Behind the curtains


At the root of Melon's organic growth and good reputation are an open, people-first attitude and a long-term approach to decision-making. We know how to agree and to disagree, how to rely on each other and take responsibility, how to concentrate on one thing and be flexible for another, how to mix adventurous foolishness with rigorous reason. We believe that there are three main values to be a good partner, employee or client: 1) being smart, 2) being nice and 3) making things happen.

These were the core values that laid the foundation of the company many years ago. Today we remain true to them. Melon was created through a natural merger of three software startups. As most startups, these companies were founded by friends, who saw an opportunity.


At our HQ in Sofia, we work in a spacious, downtown office which remains quiet most of the hours, but does have noisy corners for taking a break or blowing off steam. We respect the sanctity of the individual workspace and try to find workable, long-term solutions for situations where compromise is necessary. We listen and act upon the feedback about the working environment and thereby adapt it. Our guests are impressed, because they see we invest constant effort in making it feel more like home.

Melon's development offices in Veliko Tarnovo and Skopje reflect the same values and strive to upkeep the same working environment. You can take a virtual walk inside our head office in Sofia or come and visit us in person.


Work & Colleagues

As a part of Melon, you are likely to work on various projects - technological platform, client's industry, project size, etc. Of course, you can stick to long-term projects. Most of the projects require work with different teams (UX, developers, QA, client), so being communicative and keeping things in the open is the best strategy. What's important is getting the job done and on time, rather than spending exactly 8 hours in the office.

We have a flat structure. Top managements doors are always open and there are no holy cows. Joining a 160+ company can be overwhelming, but we try to make newcomers feel welcome and part of the team from day one. That is why we encourage everyone not to hide their positive, hard-working and helpful selves for too long. We don't tolerate lack of integrity or destructive attitude.
